![]() I think pound for pound the SNES’s library will always be my favorite and the N64 is the console I’m most nostalgic for, but I do think of the Switch very fondly as a whole experience, even if the first party titles have some weak spots for me. Im looking forward to BOTW2 but nothing else on the horizon screams “must play” to me. Still, Smash Ultimate, BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Mario Maker 2, just to name a few I’ve put a lot of hours into. No traditional Mario RPG, no new DK game, and the general trajectory of Pokémon games has been a negative for me. There’s a lot of great games, but in terms of my personal tastes the last few years have been a little lacking. If we’re talking the meat and potatoes of a Nintendo console, the first party titles… I’d probably say top 5. Having access to so many games old and new portable is fantastic. So for my favorite, I think in terms of the console experience, it’s easily top 3. I don’t care about evaluating “best,” just what I like. ![]() Including it’s spin-offs there were 10 games across DS/3DS, and not a sausage on Switch yet. One thing that is really conspicuous in its absence compared to the DS/3DS for me is Etrian Odyssey. ![]() In a similar vein, I’d question why we aren’t getting the new Tales and Star Ocean games too, but can’t say that they particularly bother me. When was the last ’very own’ FF game on a Nintendo platform that wasn’t a spin-off? That seems like a big ask when it hasn’t been a thing since the SNES- we got Bravely Default on 3DS and Switch instead, just as the DS got its predecessor, 4 Heroes of Light, before it. I guess I just don’t count FF and KH as essential to a JRPG lineup these days, as big as they are. I know I’m waiting on Sea of Stars, Eiyuden Chronicle, Sacrifire and others next year too. Is it arguably more of a case that they completely overshadow the new stuff (that is often smaller titles rather than backed by a massive publisher) rather than there not being enough new stuff to play? I dont think that’ll slow down anytime soon, and I’ll admit the DQIII remaster is probably one of my most anticipated games. I do see your point on re-releases, in particular Square seems to have just opened the floodgates this Autumn/Winter. I’m waiting on Chained Echoes too, and then FE Engage after that, and Octopath II after that, that’s another 3 within the next 5 months or so? Plus all the great Wii U ports and 3rd Party/ Indy stuff I love really puts that thing in a league of its own to me.ĭiofield was new. Franchise outings and games I consider to be my favorite games in general like Octo Expansion, Splatoon 3 singleplayer, Kirby, Odyssey, BotW, Bowsers Fury, Metroid Dread. The other side consists of all the great games in the systems life up until now with more bangers yet to come out. It is a pretty genius idea and I am hopeful Nintendo sticks with it. Never in my life did I spent so many hours on one single console. ![]() It is so easy to find a few minutes to play some fun games and if I am in the mood to play longer games the TV Mode is a godsend. Got my Wii back in 2012 before the Wii U came out. I had a pretty big gap of not owning any system between N64 and the 3DS. If I would have to rate my experience with all Nintendo systems I owned at some point in my life: Definitely first place and in my case it isn't even that close. ![]()
